Produced in Kent is the County’s foremost champion of local produce, businesses and products.
They came to Ether with a number of requirements to ensure that they retained their acclaimed position within the food sector by breathing new life into their existing site, with updated functionality and a whole new member system. As an organisation, one of their key benefits for members is an online listing. Ether looked carefully at the wants and needs of Produced in Kent, the producers and the user.
Launch this Project
“We wanted the site to represent each producer in the best possible way, and pitched the idea of members being able to add galleries, quotes and social media feeds to their listing. The new site has become a key selling point and has increased the number of producers interested in joining and site traffic.”
Once the site was built we could look at automating the membership system. We sat down with the finance team and looked at how the current manual system was administered. We were able to use the member database to completely automate the membership renewal process. The team are now able to concentrate on marketing rather than generating payment reminders, invoices and receipts. This new functionality has given Produced in Kent a powerful tool to help the business become much more efficient and ensure that members have access to their payment history at all times.
We then looked at the Taste of Kent Awards and their website, an initiative and competition run by Produced in Kent to find the best Food & Drink producers in the county. This competition is open to all shops, pubs, markets and restaurants in Kent. The way in which members of the public could nominate and vote was completely streamlined, making voting and vote evaluation as easy and effective as possible. The new look site and voting system allowed Produced in Kent to secure better sponsorship for the awards and had a record number of nominations and votes.
“Ether have helped us create two new websites that met the needs of the consumer audience while helping us to streamline the back office administration. Having an understanding of the rural sector and the food & drink communities we work with was a big help. They understood the brief and delivered 2 different but complementary designs – we are delighted with the final results and plan to work with Ether on future developments as website technology never stand still!“
